New and HOT off the mill

This is our "Show and Tell" page. We'll keep our newest incoming logs and the most recent cuts here while listing the  latest cut ones on top.
We'll show the flitched stacks in slideshow as bookmatched views in their order when possible.
All flitches are green and will be going into ADing process for maximum stress releasing .

Listed is the approximate size, date sawn and how many yrs the log "aged" on the yard prior to sawing.
Most of our slabs and flitches are sawn @ 8/4 unless otherwise stated.
The majority of the flitches have been wetted with water and denatured alcohol to bring out and show
the grain and chatoyancy in the wood.

Please enjoy your viewing.

We're updating our page for faster loading,
the slideshows of each sample are shown by pressing the blue button.

Dead Walnut

This black walnut was found fallen whole as a tree along a creek bank.
Due to finding this on another farm we do not know how many years it was down , but all the bark was gone and all sapwood was either rotted away OR stained black from the tannins leaching out.
Originally we planned on including the stump/root system attatched to the base log BUT upon sawing and hitting several rocks in the roots
we removed the 2 1/2' stump. We didn't loose any beauty due to the base log was full of fiddle-back, tiger stripe  grain.
