Spalted Maple Bench with armrest

This slighty curved spalted maple bench is a piece of art in the wood itself. Spalting is a process that is not under our control as to what degree it will be at when we decide to saw. This bench also consists of powder coated custom metalwork and an antique RR fire extinguisher wheel in a "copper vein" color to set off the wood's beauty. With spalted maple I really like sanding the edges way back to give them a soft edge making it look as though it's been stretched across a soft foam. We left some of the sand marks for accents of the magnitude of processing this look requires.

Sassafras Horseshoe Bench

Aaahh...sassafras, this wood  gives off such a nice aromatic fragrance while being sawed. This wood is used to replicate the American chestnut tree's wood in grain and general color. To accent this curved piece even more, I inlaid 2 horseshoes and filed on them to appear they were grown in the tree and accidentally sawn into while cutting. The custom metalwork is powder coated in" copper vein" color to accent the wood and it's antique RR fire extinguisher wheel used as the back.

Cherry Oval Table

This 1 1/2" thick cherry oval table is live edged and is mounted on an old sewing machine stand painted black. To accent the black stand, we've recessed a piece of slate over the cup out in the bottom side. This is a beautiful piece, as you can see the saw marks are still visible only enough to  give character  and compliment the live edge.

Sassafras High Table

Live edged, 1  1/4" thick, dovetailed waterfall sassafras high table, with wedge locked through mortise and tenon brace. The finish on this piece is Boiled Linseed Oil hand rubbed into the wood to give it an older look.

Sassafras Chair

This sassafras chair is made from one live edge beam approx. 3 1/4" thick. It has a hand rubbed Boiled Linseed Oil finish to add even more character to the wood.

Spalted Poplar Beams

(4)   6"x16"-24' spalted poplar beams. We originally sawed for ourselves to extend our storage, but after seeing their beauty we've decided to sell for someone else to show off in their building project.
