Chinkapin aka Chinquapin Oak
This oak is of the white oak family. It's leaves resemble the American Chestnut tree. At this time we haven't put these logs on the mill. I'm going to have to split the log for the mill and I'll ponder about the best layout before making a crucial cut. The main 12' log has so many angles that could be correct....but I'm looking for the best one. We'll post pics as soon as sawn.
There's also a beautiful growth we suspect was from an old limb that's hollow on the interior.
